Overview

AI-powered Candidate Matching enables recruiters to sort through a large volume of candidates and quickly identify those who are most closely aligned with a job.

Candidate Matching extracts the skills and experience from a candidate’s resume and compares them against the job description and job title of the position for which they applied. With automated Candidate Matching, recruiters can prioritize their time on talent that possess the skills and experience needed to succeed in each position.

Definitions

  • Skills Match - Answers the question, “Does the candidate possess the skills needed to be successful in the job?” The skills match evaluates the skills on the resume and the skills listed in the job description. In addition to looking for the skills explicitly stated in the job description, the AI learns and identifies similar skills held by successful applicants.
    • Jobvite’s AI moves away from the all-or-nothing concept of skills parsers and allows candidates to receive partial credit based on skill similarity and transferability. The ability to provide credit for skill similarity and transferability means that a candidate's resume does not need an exact match to get some “credit” for knowing a skill or concept.
    • Example: Database experience with a structured database such as postgres would give a candidate partial credit for a job requirement that requires mysql. Coding experience with a programming language like Java would give a candidate partial credit for a job requirement that requires the programming language Ruby.
  • Career Track Match - Answers the question, “Does the candidate possess the experience necessary to perform this job?”. This match evaluates the applicant’s previous job history and compares that to the histories of similar, successful applicants.
    • As opposed to a sales consultant, software engineers will tend to have the experience necessary for a senior software engineer position.
    • As opposed to a software engineer, sales consultants will tend to have the experience necessary for an account executive position.
  • Job Match - The overall match created by combining a candidate’s Skills Match and Career Track Match derived from the Candidate Matching engine.
  • Candidate Match - Uses a binary system of match or nothing. This allows recruiters to quickly and easily identify candidates who match in the top 20% of all applicants who have applied for the job they are working.
    • A binary match or nothing simplifies the user’s interpretation of the match results.
    • Eliminates the challenges of recommending weak or very weak candidates to a hiring manager.
    • Helps prevent unintentional bias for candidates who may have previously had a red/orange/yellow job match score. A candidate whose job match is below the top 20% will have no job match label.
