Overview
The Bias Blocker feature within Evolve ATS can enable any user to convert original non-redacted resumes to a masked resume. It redacts all data that falls into the following buckets: Gender, Race, Education, Nationality, and Religion. The process below outlines how admins can configure the Bias Blocker setting.

The process can only be performed by all users.
Utilizing Bias Blocker
Look for open requisitions in the Anonymize Resume workflow stage on your dashboard page or the Candidates tab. Click the number to be taken to a list of candidates in that stage.
Click the candidate record.
NOTE: To access these records easily, set up a saved search for candidates in the 'Anonymize Resume' application status stage.
Click the Application tab and then the Resume tab.
Click the download icon. You'll have two options: Original or masked PDF. Select Masked PDF.
NOTE: We recommend creating a folder for Bias Blocker Resumes on your computer to stay organized with the resumes you download.
The name of the downloaded Masked PDF will be the first two initials of the first name and the first two initials of the last name, followed by maskedresume. Example: John Doe would be downloaded as jodomaskedresume.pdf
Navigate back to the candidate record, click Application, then click Attachments. Upload the file that was de-identified.
Now you will move the candidate to Anonymize Resume Complete so the Recruiter managing the requisition knows they can view the uploaded file and send it to the Hiring Manager.
In the candidate record, click Proceed to Anonymize Resume Complete.
The candidate's status will be displayed as Anonymized Resume Complete.
Once the de-identification is complete, you will send the anonymized resume to the hiring manager. Click the Notes tab, then + Add Note.
Complete the fields in the Add Note window:
- To: Add the name of the Hiring Manager
- Template: Select the appropriate note template
- Add Candidate Files – Attach the de-identified resume. DO NOT select resume, as that would send the identified one.
Click Send.
The Hiring Manager will receive the note with the attachment.
Now you can change the workflow stage to Anonymize Resume – Sent to HM. Encourage your Hiring Managers to respond to the message with feedback. Once ready, you can move the candidate to a different stage so the Hiring Manager can view the full candidate profile.
