Overview
Talemetry has simplified the Source Mappings required for customers and reduced mappings from two to one in Evolve Recruitment Marketing (RM). The only exception to this rule is when a customer uses more than one ATS. Source Mapping allows Talemetry to translate a source code (BID) into customer-specific ATS source code and pass it between the two systems. The Source Map is the most critical component for source tracking accuracy. The Source Map must be maintained and updated regularly. To make this easier for customers, Talemetry created an audit report to identify unmapped sources.

Best Practices
Every Talemetry and ATS source must be in the Source Map for the most accurate source tracking. The points below further explain best practices and the importance of precise source tracking.
- Talemetry BIDs must be mapped to a single ATS Source. Customers cannot achieve accurate reporting without one-to-one mapping.
- Talemetry lists commonly used sources (BIDs) that must be added to the ATS platform.
- Customers will have sources in their ATS that do not exist in Talemetry. These sources need to be added and mapped in the custom source section.
NOTE: Please use the standard Talemetry sources to map when possible.
Update the Source Map
Once you run the Source Audit Report to identify any unmapped sources or add new ones, you must update the Source Map.
Navigate to your user menu > Applications.
Click Jobs from the menu on the left side of your screen, then select Mapping Groups.
Click Edit next to Primary Source Mapping.
To add a source, click Add Mapping.
Complete the Mappings fields:
- ATS Value – The sources found in your ATS are expected to be used in the Apply process. Since these are case-sensitive, we recommend running a report from your ATS to get a complete list of source values. If your ATS uses two-level source tracking, you will enter them separately via || (double pipe) symbols.
- Talemetry BID – Talemetry’s source tracking code. Talemetry has a standard list of BIDs used for Job Alerts, SCRM, Social Shares, etc., found in the Source Audit Report.
NOTE: If you are unsure what Talemetry BID to use, refer to Sources in Admin > Applications > Jobs > Sources.
-
Scope – This field determines how the source/BID is used in analytics.
- Both - The default entry for most sources. Sources are mapped for both the Apply process into the ATS and when passed from the ATS back to Source & CRM via the candidate sync. When sources are not set to BOTH, neither the complete nor hired data are counted when sent from the ATS to Talemetry.
- Apply - These are used to provide the applicant's source ONLY. The candidate data is not synced back to Talemetry for Source &CRM.
- Analytics - These are decommissioned source codes not currently used in the Apply process but are used as data conversion source codes. Examples include legacy ATS or system source codes to be counted as start/complete/hires in the Analytics Reports.
NOTE: You cannot have two of the same ATS source codes mapped as BOTH or in a single scope. If you have older sources that are no longer used, keep them in the source map with the scope Analytics. This ensures that candidates in the ATS tied to these sources with current activity are adequately tracked for metrics.
Click Save.
Adding Custom Sources
Navigate to your user menu > Admin, then click Applications.
Click Jobs from the menu on the left side of your screen, then select Sources.
Enable the Global Sources toggle. Then, use the search field to determine if the Source already exists.
If the Source is not found, click Add Source.
Complete the Add Source fields:
- Title - Name
- Type - Determines which Channel activity will appear in the Source Activity Report
Click Save.
Navigate to Mapping Groups to update the Source Map following the process outline in the section Update the Source Map.
Before creating a new BID, search for an existing or similar source name under Global Sources. Always check for acronyms and a.k.a. names when searching. Be careful choosing Type, as you cannot change this once the BID is created. The Type determines which Channel activity will appear in the Source Activity Report.
